Jang Geun Suk sings 3 OST songs for ‘Mary Stayed Out All Night’

It was revealed that charismatic actor Jang Geun Suk participated in singing three OST (soundtrack) songs for the highly anticipated upcoming KBS drama Mary Stayed Out All Night.
Jang Geun Suk plays the role of Kang Moo Kyul, a handsome lead vocalist and guitarist for a rock band. Two of the three OST songs includes Request and My Bus! These two songs will portray Jang Geun Suk’s drama character as a rocker who dreams of creating band music and illustrates his inner psychological conflicts.
Jang Geun Suk commented on the songs, “For this drama I ended up singing three OST songs and the songs are all so good. I want to show the audience OST songs that go along well with the drama. Please love the OST as well as the drama.”
Mary Stayed Out All Night is scheduled to air for the first time on November 8th.

jang geun suk in a new drama (japanies) Kimi wa Petto or youre my pet.

Only one news outlet is reporting this, but Jang Geun-seok has reportedly been finalized as the lead in the Korean movie version of You’re My Pet, a remake of Japanese drama Kimi wa petto. The movie had gone through an earlier casting round and selected Kim Hyun-joong as the cute “pet” to a fashion-editor careerwoman, a role that was once rumored to be Su Ae‘s.
According to Star News, Jang has decided on the role and is currently finalizing the details. An A-list actress (yet-unnamed) is the top contender for the female lead, and once the rest of the casting is made official, the movie will begin filming.
This ought to be interesting — back when Kim Hyun-joong was supposedly headlining, I had been turned off because his acting is SO inadequate that it even got in the way of my finding him physically attractive; in Boys Before Flowers, my annoyance with the acting spilled over into annoyance with the character. But Jang Geun-seok is not only pretty, he’s got comic chops as well as dramatic ones. Plus, there’s the fun trivia tidbit of Jang taking over this role from Kim considering that he had initially wanted to play the Ji-hoo role in Boys Before Flowers (which, of course, eventually went to Kim).

Jang Geun Suk explained that, as he was looking at potential projects, the two dramas that really caught his eye were Beethoven Virus and Boys Over Flowers. He wanted to do both but felt that Beethoven Virus had more to offer as a learning experience since many senior actors would be appearing on the show. With that in mind, he got a role in Beethoven Virus, and the role of Goo Joon Pyo eventually went to Lee Minho.
Jang Geun Suk seems to have no regrets, and said that Lee Minho portrayed the character well and that, if Jang Geun Suk had taken on the role, it might not have been as good. Perhaps Jang saw the success of Boys Over Flowers and decided to make it up by starring in You´re Beautiful, another show with a large teen fan base.

Jang Geun Suk Picks Beethoven Virus Over Boys Before Flowers

It was close but didn’t happen. It was revealed that Jang Geun Suk was a prime candidate for the role of Goo Joon Pyo during the initial casting for the roles in KBS Boys Before Flowers, but Lee Min Ho got the role in the end.

Boys Before Flowers went through a long period of casting and auditions last year before beginning its broadcast on 5th January. Many were concerned over the casting for the popular adapation of the Japanese manga which has millions of readers worldwide and had been made into a drama in Taiwan and Japan over the past few years. But the initial casting stage wasn’t plain sailing.
According to someone from KBS, Jang Geun Suk had been a prime candidate for the role of Goo Joon Pyo but he wanted the role of Yoon Ji Ho instead. Group Eight, the production company behind Boys Before Flowers expressed that SS501 leader, Kim Hyun Joong had already been pre-selected for the role already. And this explains why there was a long delay in confirming Kim Hyun Joong for Boys Before Flowers even though there were rumors then.

Thus, a competition started brewing between Jang Geun Suk and Kim Hyun Joong for the role of Yoon Ji Ho. At the same time, fans of Kim Hyun Joong started leaving messages for Group Eight, expressing that Hyun Joong was most definitely able to portray the character and also sent in photos of Hyun Joong which resembled Yoon Ji Ho a lot to strengthen their case.
In the end, Jang Geun Suk gave up on the role automatically after failing to get a definite response from Group Eight and took on Beethoven Virus.
